At the heart of Positive Living Niagara is a vision for an adaptive and supportive community, one that stands in solidarity with those affected by HIV, HCV, and other STBBIs.
We believe in creating an environment where everyone feels accepted and supported, regardless of their health status.
Our mission is to provide a comprehensive range of innovative and proactive approaches to harm reduction, prevention, and person-centered support and education. We are committed to serving those at risk and affected by HIV, HCV, and STBBIs, ensuring they have access to the resources and assistance they need to lead fulfilling lives.
Our journey began over three decades ago, in 1987, with the establishment of the AIDS Committee of Niagara. Originally serving as an advisory committee to the Niagara Regional Public Health Service's AIDS Program, we have since evolved into a vital not-for-profit, community-based AIDS service organization (ASO). In 1990, we officially incorporated as AIDS Niagara, solidifying our commitment to serving the Niagara Region. Over the years, we have remained dedicated to our vision, mission, and values, continually striving to make a positive impact in our community.
In October 2014, we embarked on a significant rebranding effort, officially changing our name to Positive Living Niagara. This transition marked a pivotal moment in our organization's history, reflecting our ongoing dedication to serving the Niagara Region in Ontario. As we celebrate over two decades of service, we are proud of our evolution and the impact we have made. Our new name and symbol embody our commitment to uplifting those we serve and inspiring hope for a brighter future.
Throughout our rebranding process, which spanned over a year, we actively sought input from our clients, volunteers, staff, and local and provincial partners. This collaborative effort reinforced our sense of community and collective ownership over our organization's identity. As we move forward, we remain steadfast in our mission to support individuals affected by HIV, HCV, and STBBIs, empowering them to live life to the fullest.
